فِي صَبَاحِ يَوْمٍ جَدِيدٍ، دَخَلَ تِلْمِيذٌ يُدْعَى عُمَرَ إِلَى فَصْلِنَا.

One morning, a new pupil named Omar entered our classroom.

كَانَ عُمَرُ هَادِئًا، وَبَدَا عَلَيْهِ الْخَجَلُ لِأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَعْرِفُ أَحَدًا.

Omar was quiet and looked shy because he did not know anyone.

اِبْتَسَمْتُ لَهُ وَقُلْتُ: «مَرْحَبًا يَا عُمَرُ، يُمْكِنُكَ أَنْ تَجْلِسَ بِجَانِبِي.»

I smiled at him and said, “Welcome, Omar. You can sit beside me.”

شَكَرَنِي عُمَرُ، وَبَدَأْنَا نَقْرَأُ الدَّرْسَ وَنَحُلُّ التَّمَارِينَ مَعًا.

Omar thanked me, and we began reading the lesson and solving the exercises together.

فِي وَقْتِ الِاسْتِرَاحَةِ، قَاسَمْتُهُ شَطِيرَتِي وَعَرَّفْتُهُ إِلَى أَصْدِقَائِي.

At break time, I shared my sandwich with him and introduced him to my friends.

لَعِبْنَا الْكُرَةَ فِي السَّاحَةِ، وَسَجَّلَ عُمَرُ هَدَفًا جَمِيلًا.

We played football in the playground, and Omar scored a lovely goal.

صَفَّقَ لَهُ الْجَمِيعُ، فَزَالَ خَجَلُهُ وَظَهَرَتْ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ اِبْتِسَامَةٌ كَبِيرَةٌ.

Everyone applauded him, so his shyness disappeared and a big smile appeared on his face.

فِي نِهَايَةِ الْيَوْمِ، قَالَ لِي: «لَقَدْ جَعَلْتَ يَوْمِي الْأَوَّلَ سَهْلًا وَسَعِيدًا.»

At the end of the day, he told me, “You made my first day easy and happy.”

مُنْذُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ، أَصْبَحَ عُمَرُ صَدِيقًا عَزِيزًا لِي.

From that day on, Omar became a dear friend of mine.
